If you are reading this then you are probably in the same boat as I am! This part came about after making a replacement end cap and realizing how many people have rotted, worn or stretched out O-Rings. I listened to your requests and had new O-Rings made. The Factory O-Rings are made out of Rubber and Rubber rots over time.

I firmly believe that the manufacturer of these parts makes them with the intent to ultimatelyfail and require you to once again have to buy a brand new heater. I reverse engineered the O-Ring after searching everywhere to buy a replacement.The manufacturer refuses to sell just the O-Rings and the only option is a new Heater.The O-Rings used are proprietary and specifically made for the Watkins Heaters. My O-Rings have the exact same dimensions as the originals.They are tapered at one end, flat on the other.However, I made mine out of the highest grade SILICONE. The result is an O-Ring that will not rot and is much more difficult to stretch out.Silicone retains it's shape more effectively than Rubber and won't crack and crumble. Your O-Ring may look fine but, may be overstretched and incapable of making a tight seal.Your O-Ring may not visually appear to be worn but, if you are leaking it probably is.It doesn't have to look as bad as the example below to be ineffective.

Here is an example of what Rotted Rubber Watkins O-Rings Look Like: The design of these O -Rings is unique because one side is flat and the other is tapered.The reason the O-Ring has to be tapered is that there is a beveled ramp inside the end cap.When you tighten the screws on the end cap, this tapered end is compressed by the end cap ramp against the pipe/tube and forms a watertight seal. NOTE: THE TAPERED END IS THE SIDE THAT GOES DOWN INTO THE END CAP.THE FLAT SIDE IS THE SIDE THAT FACES UP WHEN LOOKING INTO THE CAP FROM TOP. So here is the important stuff you need to know..
